Pre-Millennium Tension is the second album from English rapper and producer Tricky, released on 11 November 1996 on Island. The album was well received by critics, being named the ninth best record of the year in the 1996 Pazz & Jop poll. Tricky regarded the album as an attempt to depart from the traits of the genre trip hop, with which critics had previously described Maxinquaye.
