A poisoned bolt has struck down the Princess Anita on the day of her wedding to Prince Arutha of Krondor. Raymond Elias Feist (born Raymond Elias Gonzales III; December 21, 1945) is an American author known for his epic fantasy series, *The Riftwar Cycle*. Born in Los Angeles and raised in Southern California, Feist adopted the surname of his stepfather, Felix E. Feist, after his mother remarried. He graduated with honors from the University of California, San Diego, in 1977 with a B.A. in Communication Arts.
