Raymond Elias Feist (born Raymond Elias Gonzales III; December 21, 1945) is an American author known for his epic fantasy series, *The Riftwar Cycle*. Born in Los Angeles and raised in Southern California, Feist adopted the surname of his stepfather, Felix E. Feist, after his mother remarried.
