One of the most celebrated plays of David Mamet's oeuvre, Speed-the-Plow was first produced in 1988 featuring Madonna, Joe Mantegna, and Ron Silver. It is a deeply satirical and witty look at the world of two Hollywood executives, Charlie Fox and Bobby Gould, both of whom have scrambled their way up to the top from the mailroom.

David Alan Mamet is an American author, essayist, playwright, screenwriter, and film director. His works are known for their clever, terse, sometimes vulgar dialogue and arcane stylized phrasing, as well as for their exploration of masculinity. Mamet received Tony Award nominations for Glengarry Glen Ros (1984) and Speed-the-Plow (1988), as well as the Pulitzer Prize for Glengarry Glen Ross.
