Twenty years after graduating, the director returns to his alma mater to understand how it reached the brink of closure. With a camera, he documents the school’s final “garbage time.” Told through the perspectives of faculty members, graduates, international students, and students with learning support needs, the film captures the ordinary days and quiet shifts during the university’s final year. From enrollment struggles and financial collapse to the fading of academic energy, their words—and silences—form a portrait of higher education in its twilight. This film is both a requiem for a school and an allegory for the hospice era awaiting many private universities in Taiwan.
