What is life like for divorced men, separated from their table, bed, and bank account by an angry ex-wife? How does divorce affect their morale and self-confidence? The main character, Rudolf, a noble and charming man of the world, is forced to move from the luxury of the big city to a rural hotel he owns with his dissolute brother Arnošt after a divorce caused by a reckless love affair.
