In Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son players assume the role of Phil Connors Jr., the son of Phil Connors from the iconic film, who returns to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania only to become trapped in a time loop just as his father once was. Groundhog Day is a fun, mind-bending adventure that encourages trial and error. Its funny, witty and everything is presented in a pleasing manner. The VR implementation is good and I had zero issues throughout. Groundhog Day came from nowhere and really surprised me. I really enjoyed it.

If you've ever wanted to get stuck again in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, virtual reality has you covered. Like Father Like Son, is a cartoony sequel to the 1993 film, and it does its best to recapture the love and lunacy that made the story work the first time around. But with sloppy animation and only a handful of locations to revisit, this town's not quite the same as it used to be.

Unlike its protagonist, Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son shows little interest in forging its own identity. If you’re craving a return to Punxsutawney, rewatching the movie is a far more rewarding choice.

While I understand it's trying to emulate the movie, this ultimately makes Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son not any fun to play. Having to repeat the same tedious, overly lengthy, and often difficult, minigames over and over is just not fun. While I can say I was impressed with the storytelling and voice acting, and it really did feel a lot of effort went into making the game feel just like the movie. I just wish it was actually fun to play.
