While the premise sounds simple and repetitive, the execution gives it depth: the upgradeable equipment (armor, weaponry, shield), the plethora of skills, the use of amulet, pets, foods; Story of a Gladiator is a simple, yet complex game that’s easy to pick up and play. I highly recommend this game.

ThisGenGamingJustin OneilDec 20197.5/10Story of a Gladiator might not be remembered like the classics it was inspired by but it’s a pretty good beat-’em-up in its own right. The combat is smooth and responsive and it’s fun to level up your character and use new weapons and abilities to smash apart enemy gladiators. It does get to be a bit grindy at times and has some visual hiccups but if you can look past that you’ll enjoy this trip to the arena.

While the title "Story of a Gladiator" may be a misnomer as the actual story is short, with no real impact on much of what you do, Story of a Gladiator manages to pull off a fun action title that will keep players invested for several hours as they bash, slice, and skewer their way to the top.
