A young Valkyrie who is entrusted with the fate of the world by the All-Father, the highest of gods and ruler of all creation, will face various enemies on her quest and must utilize a variety of weapons, magic and the power of her allies to prevent Ragnarok - the destruction of the world. An action role-playing entry in the Valkyrie Profile series steeped in Norse mythology, Valkyrie Elysium unfolds against the looming shadow of Ragnarok, the prophesied end of the world. The story follows Maria, a valkyrie and lesser goddess newly created by the wounded All-Father, Odin, to serve as his instrument of salvation. Tasked with descending to the mortal realm of Midgard, Maria must seek out and purify lost souls, cleansing them of corruption to gather strength for Odin's cause. Among these souls she calls upon the Einherjar, fallen warriors resurrected to fight at her side, each carrying the memory of the death that brought them low. As Maria carries out her sacred duty across a world sliding toward destruction, she crosses paths with a mysterious human and a defiant rogue valkyrie who cautions her against trusting Odin, sowing the first seeds of doubt about the true purpose behind her divine mission.
