You get moments to play as Sarah, John, and the T-800, recreating some of the best moments from the film. However, a lack of longer or extra levels that could have added to the playtime of Terminator 2D: No Fate holds it back from being a true masterpiece.

Terminator 2D: NO FATE is a masterclass in film-to-video game adaptation. It also feels like something a frighteningly clever machine would devise in order to push every single one of my ‘childhood delight’ buttons. It’s easily one of my favorite games of the year and I’d argue one of the best licensed games ever on top of that. Maybe just keep your eyes peeled for any discount on it.

Giant BombDan RyckertDec 20252.5/5 starsAs a huge fan of Terminator 2 and the 16-bit era of sidescrolling action games, I certainly found plenty of things to appreciate about this faithful throwback from Bitmap Bureau. If you see NO FATE on sale for $10 and have the same nostalgia that I have for its inspirations, I’d give it a hearty recommendation. It becomes much harder to recommend a $30 purchase for a 45-minute long experience.

Daily MirrorDec 20253/5 starsThe actual act of playing through iconic events like Arnie’s bar brawl, the T-1000’s helicopter chase, and others hasn’t been made all that intriguing. A fact that also isn’t helped by how most are over all too quickly. Ultimately, it makes for a fun hit of 1990s nostalgia every long-time Terminator 2 will enjoy getting to chew on. As for whether this always makes for the best game, though? Negative.
