I can easily see developer Probably Monsters adding more levels, monsters, and gear. With a few patches to iron out the camera, Crimson Moon will be a solid choice for fans of fantasy action

Still, thanks to good backend and frontend rewards, it makes the difficulty worthwhile. The controls do need some work, as do consistent updates, but in the end it’s more fun than not.

While Crimson Moon’s Unreal Engine-driven environments and the great progression system try their best to carry the experience, the final result is constantly suffocated by the convoluted story, a limited weapon pool, and a lack of accessibility options. Even when the co-op action starts to click, the lethal camera system and the game’s inability to prepare you for its mechanics quickly kill the momentum.

Game SandwichAugusto A.Sep 20266/10Crimson Moon has a very short honeymoon period before the repetition sets in, and it becomes clear that there isn’t much content or randomization to be found in the game. The great armor designs are definitely something to note, but even that is unfortunately soured by the lack of a transmog system, forcing you to choose between either looking or performing your best. Its biggest draw at the moment is its straightforward co-op gameplay in a souls-like style, something the genre desperately lacks, but it’s difficult to find the drive to keep going on runs when the map and enemy variety, as well as the slow meta-progression system, don’t provide many incentives. Hopefully Crimson Moon finds more ways to keep the player engaged in the future, but in its current state, it feels somewhat incomplete.
