EurogamerMartin RobinsonApr 2020Glorious artwork and a fan's eye for detail combine for a sequel that manages to best its forebears.

Pure NintendoJames ColozziMay 202010/10From great musical and visual presentation, to smooth fluid gameplay and unlockable content, bundled with online co-op play, Streets of Rage 4 is an absolute blast to play. Not disappointing in the least, it's more than just the finest addition to the series; it's the best in the genre, in my opinion.

Tech AdvisorDominic PrestonApr 20203/5 starsEven as someone with no history on the streets (of rage) it’s clear that this is a labour of love, so I suspect franchise fans will find enough here to make it worth the purchase. The series is showing its age though, and while the aesthetic has been updated to suit the times, Streets of Rage 4 feels a little too rooted in its ‘90s heyday.

Press StartJames BerichApr 20206.5/10Streets of Rage 4 is a solid tribute to the genre it arguably helped shape, but this feels like more of the same with a fresh coat of paint rather than an all-out reinvention. What’s on offer here is reminiscent and nostalgic, and still a great time, but it ultimately lacks the oomph to elevate it beyond the games that came before it.
