Gaming AgeDustin ChadwellNov 202410/10I would absolutely recommend checking out Voidwrought when you get a chance. It’s a fantastic Metroidvania with some inventive abilities, and doesn’t overstay it’s welcome at a fairly tight 10 hours or so depending on how thorough you are with finding everything. I was really happy with the game overall, and if you have any affinity for these types of games, then I think you will be too.

SwitchabooOct 20249/10I recently helped Switchaboo compile a Top 10 Lesser Known Metroidvanias video and I honestly think if Voidwrought was out at the time of making it, then I would have included it. Voidwrought’s strongest traits are its exploration, game design and combat, all of which I feel are the true archetypes of metroidvanias. When all three are executed so well, you have something like Voidwrought—a fun and challenging tableau full of exploration. Bravo!

MinimapNov 20243/5 starsIt is a very enjoyable game, with challenging platforming, boss fights, and a variety of very detailed enemies throughout the biomes. And while I personally felt frustrated in some areas, I know a few of my fellow gamers who found Voidwrought enjoyable and even felt pushed to complete the game because of its challenging features. So, why not try the game out for yourself?

Niche GamerAugusto A.Nov 20246.5/10It’s definitely not wrong to make a Metrovania with a higher focus on exploration and platforming, but Voidwrought hurts itself by having very simple levels and barely any platforming challenges. This lack of commitment to a premise makes the game feel safe and mostly forgettable, as it doesn’t bring anything new to the overcrowded Metrovania genre.
